Grounded in Dorset soil

Founded in 2011, Pitman & Family Ltd

Initially, our company was named Martyr Joinery Limited. We specialized in crafting bespoke handmade joinery products and also focused on timber-framed construction projects.

In addition to Martyr Joinery, we nurtured a passion for farming. We often assisted friends on their family farms and raised geese for Christmas. In 2021, we decided to emphasize the farming aspect of our work, which was our true passion. We managed to lease some grazing land and embarked on our farming journey, raising sheep and cattle as a separate partnership company.

Farming quickly became our preferred occupation, leading us to gradually downsize the joinery business back to just ourselves. Then in 2026, we combined the Joinery/Construction company with the Farm Partnership into a single entity and rebranded Martyr Joinery Limited to what we are now known as, Pitman & Family Ltd.

At Pitman & Family Ltd, we continue to undertake specialized timber-framed construction projects, with the support of our long established network of contractors. While also integrating agricultural fencing and contracting services. Alongside our regeneratively farmed pasture-to-plate livestock farming, we demonstrate that construction capability and land stewardship can coexist under one roof.
